In the previous article, the second one in this series of the Fall Festivals, we studied the sequential fulfillment of the Day of Atonement. It will take place when the heavenly High Priest returns to the earth from the heavenly Temple and every knee will bow before Him. All of Israel will be saved and see her Messiah. [1] What a day! Also, all the dark forces will have to bow to Christ, while Satan, after first being locked up in the abyss for the duration of the Kingdom of Peace, eventually will be cast into the lake of fire forever. After Christ’ return on that last Day of Atonement, therefore, only the Feast of Tabernacles is still waiting for the moment to be revealed of its shadow meaning. The significance of this New Covenant will become a reality. So, in this third article let’s have a closer look at the Feast of Tabernacles.
In the previous article we studied the Feast of Trumpets. This is the first Feast in the series of Fall Festivals that are still awaiting their future fulfillment in Christ. Many New Testament believers don’t celebrate these festivals any more in remembrance of His coming and expectation of His Return. As we explained, the Feast of Trumpets has everything to do with the moment when the Bridegroom comes to get the Bride at the sound of the Last Trumpet. Each of these Fall Feasts show us an aspect of the future fulfillment in Christ. In this second article we focus on the Day of Atonement.
This year (2019), the Feast of Trumpets takes place on September 30th, but only if the night before the crescent New Moon is visible over Israel. This is called the first visible Sliver. Previous to that day though, nobody knows for sure when exactly the moon will appear. We call it a Feast because it is one of the seven links in the Feast Pattern God established as beacons in His Salvation Plan. In fact, it is called “the Day of the Waking Trumpet Call”, [1] and in the Old Testament we see traces of this in the “Day of Jubilee” [2] where God calls on the people to completely unwind and blow the trumpet. But for what purpose? The answer to this mystery can be discovered in the Bible.
Where do we go from here ?
The Feast of Trumpets, the Day of Atonement and the Feast of Tabernacles, together they form the Fall Festivals on God’s Calendar. In the book Wake Up! we describe how two thousand years ago Jesus Christ fulfilled the meaning of the Spring Festivals precisely on the calendar day of these festivals; in timing and in every detail. He came to reveal the true meaning of these Festivals. For this reason, we believe that the Fall Festivals also will be fulfilled in detail on their calendarday around His Second Coming. We will see as well that each of these Festivals points to an aspect around this Great Event. Therefore, they are not exclusively Jewish Festivals, since Christ is positioned in the center of these Feasts
